Traveling with kids can be a wonderful and enriching experience for the whole family. It allows you to create lasting memories and expose your kids (and grandkids) to different cultures and experiences. It can also be challenging at times, as kids tend to get tired and bored easily. To help make your family travels more enjoyable and stress-free, I have listed some helpful tips and links.
1. Plan: Before embarking on your trip, do some research and plan your itinerary accordingly
Look for family-friendly activities and attractions that will keep your kids engaged and entertained. Make sure to include breaks and downtime in your schedule to avoid overexertion. I like to mark places of interest on google maps and insert notes regarding the place or activity. You can book activities and tours here:

2. Pack Sensibly: When traveling with kids, it’s important not to overpack
If the kids have their own suitcase, I like to let them help with the process. I also like to ensure that every child has their own backpack for snacks, water bottles, and entertainment options. Books, coloring books and crayons, or electronic devices are great to help keep them occupied and give you a break from constant. Win-win. My favorite backpacks:
3. Select Kid-Friendly Accommodations
When booking your accommodations, opt for family-friendly hotels or vacation rentals that offer amenities such as swimming pools, playgrounds, or kids’ clubs. This will provide your children with additional activities and make their stay (and yours) more enjoyable.

4. Involve the Kids in the Planning Process
Get your kids excited about the trip by involving them. Let them choose activities or attractions they would like to visit. This will make them feel more engaged and invested in the trip. We all enjoy having something to look forward to, no matter our age.
5. Flexibility Is Key
While it’s important to have a plan, it’s equally important to be flexible. Kids can be unpredictable, and things may not always go as planned. Embrace the unexpected and be open to changing your plans if needed. Keep in mind, the journey is just as important as the destination.
6. Break Time
Traveling can be tiring for everyone, especially young children. Make sure to take regular breaks to eat, rest, and recharge. This will help keep everyone in good spirits. Take plenty of electrolytes you can mix with water to stay hydrated.
7. Capture the Moments
Don’t forget to capture the special moments and memories along the way. Take plenty of photos.
Here is a great travel camera:
Encourage your kids to also take photos. Another fun idea would be recommending that they keep a travel journal. Have them write down their favorite experience or memory from each day. This will help them create a lasting keepsake. This is a fun instant print camera for kids ages 3-12. They can print and place in their travel journal while on their vacation. And it is something you can help them with, so you have one on one time.
8. Sightseeing
Whether it’s bird watching, hiking, or for events/entertainment, having a pair of binoculars is convenient and allows for enjoying the beauty around you, with some excellent parent-child time. I like these because they are mini sized so are easy for kids to hold onto.
What are your own best travel hacks?
Traveling can be a stressful experience, but it doesn’t have to be.
With proper planning and a positive mindset, traveling with kids can be incredibly rewarding. Nothing makes me happier than bringing laughter and joy to my kids and grandkids.
Embrace the adventure, create lasting memories, and enjoy the journey together as a family. Happy travels!
